Event Description

Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (“Toronto Hydro”)’s Power Pitch (the “Event”) will be held at 500 Commissioners Street, in Toronto, Ontario. The Event will be held on October 22nd, 2019 ("Event Period").

Toronto Hydro is seeking innovative ideas related to grid automation. Interested companies are invited to complete the online application for Toronto Hydro review. A short list of respondents, selected at Toronto Hydro’s sole discretion, will be invited to present their ideas to a live panel of Toronto Hydro representatives.

The target area for ideas is Toronto Hydro’s open loop distribution system surrounding the Toronto city core. Solutions should support legacy equipment while being flexible to meet future needs and changes. Existing equipment includes:

  • S&C SCADA-Mate switch and Intellirupter – 5801 and 6801 RTU (DNP serial)
  • Hubbell Automation Ready – AR switch – SEL 2411 Relay (DNP serial)
  • G&W Viper Recloser – SEL 651 Relay (DNP serial)
  • G&W Switchgear – SEL 751 Relay and RTAC (DNP serial)
  • S&C Vista switch – 5802, and 6802 RTU (DNP serial)
  • Radio systems including General Electric MDS SD-9 radios (plan to migrate to GE Orbit) and transit radios
  • Schneider SCADA OASyS v7.7
  • Oracle NMS v2.3 using ICCP

The solutions should include hardware and/or software that has the ability to interface with a variety of legacy, existing, and future switching devices and be able to communicate on a common protocol (i.e. DNP 3.0).

The Event consists of vendor presentations outlining an innovative technology or idea, operational and implementation details, scalability and projected results followed by panel questions and an opportunity for discussion.

Respondents may apply to participate in this Event by completing the application form with a detailed description of the idea and submitting it through the Power Pitch website:
