General questions

Power Pitch is an open call for innovative new ideas to continuously improve our system, reduce costs and be ready to meet the challenges of the future. By providing innovators with the opportunity to present their solutions directly to Toronto Hydro, we aim to encourage new ways of thinking and break down barriers to entry for teams with great ideas.

In the first call, we’re looking for proposals for distribution automation solutions.

No, there is no fee to enter.

The deadline for the first call is July 29, 2019.

If you’re selected to pitch your solution, we’ll contact you by email before September 15, 2019.

You need to fill in the application form provided, providing as much detail as possible.

Yes! We encourage submissions from anywhere in the world, but the solution has to be feasible in the Toronto Hydro service territory. Please refer to the application form for details.

Yes! We encourage joint submissions.

All information submitted at the application stage must be non-confidential. All entrants retain intellectual property of their solution. If necessary, Toronto Hydro may seek additional information and clarification about your application. If your project is ultimately accepted by Toronto Hydro, confidentiality agreements will be put in place.

Yes! Innovators are encouraged to apply to multiple calls.


Submissions will be reviewed by a team of internal Toronto Hydro subject matter experts.

An initial panel will evaluate the submissions received. If selected, you’ll be invited to pitch your solution to our team in an informal setting where we can offer feedback, share information and potentially explore opportunities to collaborate.

Each submission will be evaluated on the basis of level of innovation, implementation feasibility and operational impact.

Live pitch event questions

The event will take place in Toronto on October 22, 2019.

Transportation and other expenses related to your pitch will not be provided and are the responsibility of each applicant.
